Downloading images from the web
To download images from the web and store them on your computer for future use:
- Browse the internet to find suitable pictures. Note that if the picture is small in its original context, it will be small when you use it. You cannot expand an image without losing quality.
- Hover the cursor over the image you want.
- The next stage depends on what browser and what platform (MAC or PC) you are using.
- If you see 4 small icons appear at the top of the picture (some versions of Internet Explorer), click on the one which looks like a floppy disk.
- If you are on a PC, right-click and select 'Save image As..' or 'Download image to disk'
- If you are on a MAC, hold 'Ctrl' and click, then select as above.
- Select the folder where you want to store the image (this should be your
root folder or a subdirectory of it. DO NOT ACCEPT THE
DEFAULT LOCATION).
- Change the name of the file if necessary. [Note: Do NOT alter the file suffix. If it is called '020034.jpg' then you can give it a more descriptive name, such as 'marilyn.jpg', but leave the 'jpg' bit alone.]
- Click 'Save' or 'OK'
