Module Summary

This module is one of a suite of three (one at each of the three levels of undergraduate study) which explores the nature of human-computer interaction and the theories underlying support for that interaction, through the design and implementation of effective interfaces between humans and digital media. The suite of modules consists of: The Language of Interaction (level 1), Interface Culture (level 2) and Contemporary Issues and Developments in Interaction Design (level 3).
This level 1 module provides a foundation in design for interaction by considering the principles of good design (the effective use of colour, typography, space, organisation of information etc) within the scientific and social-scientific paradigms (psychology, ergonomics, cognetics, sociology, etc). The module also considers methodologies for design and focuses on the user-centred and pervasive usability approaches.
