Busk Factor - tonight

Tonight Thursday 6th May – Drayton Court Hotel, West Ealing

As featured on the BritEvents website. They say:
“Students from The London College of Music (LCM) at Thames Valley University (TVU) will busk to impress a panel of expert judges and gain the majority of audiences votes at The Drayton Court Pub in West Ealing at an evening inspired by the London 2012 Olympics*. At ‘The Busk Factor’ performers will represent the nationality of a piece of music or the nationality of an artist as they compete for a cash prize. In the same style of The X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent, three judges will deliver their verdict on each performance but the final decision will come down to the audience as they uniquely vote by placing a coin in the cap of the performance they favoured most.
MA Music Management students Kat Downs and Holli Sullivan who organised the event said: “We feel buskers represent the raw talent of London and are proud that TVU has given us this unique opportunity to show that London 2012 is about so much more than sport.”
Andy East, LCM Programme Leader and Head Judge at The Busk Factor, and manager and producer with over twenty-five years experience said:
“The event is an excellent example of the students demonstrating the business and entrepreneurial skills they have acquired from the programme, while providing great entertainment for the audience””

Going for Gold

Local college and sixth-form students got their creative juices flowing as Thames Valley University (TVU) held a London 2012 Olympic-themed challenge last week.

At the Creative Campus FE College Challenge, first year National Diploma students (or those on equivalent Level Three programmes) were invited to respond creatively to the ideals and events of the Olympic and Paralympics 2012. These ideas were then judged at TVU by a panel of experts, including Sue Davidson the Executive Producer of ‘The Apprentice’, which was looking for innovative ideas that could be explored through a variety of creative outlets; creative media, performing arts and visual arts.
